Bolwing agents



In accordance to establishment and continuous development of the Montreal Protocol, the blowing agents used in rigid polyurethane products has been relentlessly evolving over the past two decades. This agreement address the environmental impact on the climate and the ozone layer from the use of certain substances, such as CFC-11 and HCFC-141b. The primary goal has been to phase out the use of HCFCs in blowing agents to achieve zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) within the industry.

In response to growing need for high performance products with reduced environmental impact, Sookyung has commercialized a new co-blowing agent, CAPABLOW MX Series. It provides an excellent physical properties and high performance characteristics. It offers a sustainable solution to meet changing regulatory requirements with enhanced performance to replace hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) and hydrocarbons (HCs).

Consequently, the 3rd generation with zero ODP blowing agents,  such as HFC-245fa, HFC-365mfc, and HFC-134a, have become widely used. Nevertheless, in numerous countries within the rigid polyurethane sector have struggled with the challenges in applying these agents, in particular those with low GWP due to high cost in price and limitations in applications.


B A blowing agent optimized for a comprehensive range of traditional applications for PUR rigid foam 

B Description 

It utilizes fine cell technology to minimize voids, enhancing product quality in applications such as injection molding and panels. With a boiling point close to the ideal foaming agent R-ll (21°C), it performs exceptionally well in rigid systems.

B A blowing agent optimized for PIR rigid foam applications with requirements of flame retardancy

B Description 

It utilizes fine cell technology to decrease cell size in PIR pipes, blocks, and other applications. This will improve product quality with enhanced thermal insulation properties, making it suitable for a wide range of PIR products, requiring flame retardancy.

B A blowing agent optimized for spray foam applications 

B Description 

It provides optimized response profile for spray applications, characterized by rapid initial reactions, enabling a reduction in catalyst usage when formulating spray systems. It also maintains excellent workability even during the cold season. Furthermore, it demonstrates exceptional foaming efficiency and retains stable properties when used in products.

Product description

"CAPABLOW MX-280 is a colorless, non-flammable blowing agent that has excellent compatibility and  foaming performance in general and is used as a blowing agent for flexible polyurethane foam with ODP 0 and low GWP values."  

This product is designed for flexible polyurethane foam, but it can be used for a variety of other purposes.

Product applications

CAPABLOW MX-280 product can be used as a flexible polyurethane foam blowing agent for a variety of purposes, including slabs and molds.
